Sundance Kid :: A Letter from the last frontier

A couple weeks ago, thanks to the good folks at Agloves, I had the pleasure of saddling up with my good friend, and one of the last great frontiersman of our time, David Hancock.

This is a letter home that his folks recently forwarded on to me, and which I think I had best share with you all as well:

MUSIC :: "Lost in My Mind" - the Head and the Heart (unofficial music video)

A quest to lose ourselves on the fading rural highways of the American West.

(Video was filmed entirely on the iPhone4)

iPHONEOGRAPHY :: The Unseen Photographer - Poker Faces

It goes without saying that I am not the first to postulate on the topic of cell phone photography, but it is something that comes to mind often, and that I was reminded of recently while visiting the SFMOMA where they have an excellent exhibition called "Exposed: voyeurism, surveillance, and the camera since 1870".

The following is a breakdown of my musings inspired by the aforementioned exhibit, and my recent forays into cell phone photography:

Thesis: Phone cameras could be to contemporary street photography, what the 35mm in the hands of Walker Evans was to the...

draft beer, not soldiers

Have ever you heard of the Land of Beyond,
     That dreams at the gates of the day?
Alluring it lies at the skirts of the skies,
     And ever so far away;
Alluring it calls: O ye the yoke galls,
     And ye of the trail overfond,
With saddle and pack, by paddle and track,
     Let's go to the Land of Beyond!
